Evolution News — Now in a Spanish Language Edition!

Evolution News

Here’s some excellent news. If you look in the upper right hand corner of this page, you will find a bold ES for “Español against an orange background. Click on it and you’ll go straight to the new Spanish Edition of Evolution News. Diseño Inteligente, of course, is “Intelligent Design.”

This is a major step forward for the scientific alternative to traditional Darwinian evolutionary theory. “Spanish is the primary language of 20 countries worldwide,” says Wikipedia, and this is the kind of thing you can take their word on. “It is estimated that the combined total number of Spanish speakers is between 470 and 500 million, making it the second most widely spoken language in terms of native speakers.” Measured in terms of speakers for whom it is their “first language,” Chinese is on top, then comes Spanish followed by English. So Chinese would seem to be our next frontier.

What you will find at the new Spanish Edition site is a selection of articles from Evolution News, tirelessly translated by our friend Guillermo Cuadra, who is also working on translations of peer-reviewed scientific publications that support ID. (On that he’s just getting started, but you can find an annotated list in English here.) Speaking of intelligent design, the new site is also very user-friendly as well as nice to look at, thanks to the ministrations of Discovery Institute web design genius Nathan Jacobson.

Guillermo is a graduate of the Summer Seminar on Intelligent Design in the Natural Sciences, and is currently studying mathematical physics at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua. He observes, “Here in Nicaragua it is somewhat acceptable to dissent from Darwin, as long as you back up your alternative proposal.” And that is what he’s seeking to do, no doubt to the benefit of many curious readers among his fellow Spanish speakers.
