Evolution
Intelligent Design
On German TV, an Interview with ID Proponent Wolf-Ekkehard Lönnig
Wolf-Ekkehard Lönnig worked for 25 years as a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne, Germany. He is now retired but still writes often on the topic of Darwinism and intelligent design. You can find links to his CV and many of his research publications here. And here is his most recent writing, on orchids and evolution.
On July 2, a German TV station ran a 42-minute interview with Dr. Lönnig on “Paleontology and Evolution.” But the interview actually covers a wide range of topics related to the Darwinism/ID debate.
The interview has now been translated into English by Arne Schirmacher, who owns an IT consulting company and lives near Dusseldorf, Germany. Permission to subtitle it has been obtained from the producer and copyright holder, Hans R. Portner, Hauptstrasse 14a, Staufenberg, Germany. The interview (above) is very accessible to the non-scientist and, in my opinion, is one of the best discussions of the major issues in this debate I have ever heard.
For the English subtitles, make sure CC (closed captions, at the bottom of the screen) is turned on.
