As I read through the scientific literature of evolutionary biology to try and convince myself of its accuracy and coherence, I was struck by the frequency with which I encountered “religious” language.
As Seth W. Cheetham and his co-authors put it, biology suffers from “demotivation into exploring pseudogene function by the a priori assumption that they are functionless.”
Is this proof of Adam and Eve? Far from it. It merely shows they might be possible. This model is scientific and as such is falsifiable.
Could humanity have had its origin in a first pair, or did it have to come from a population of at least several thousand?
A bottleneck of two, or a first pair at our origin older than 500,000 years, is possible.
