A European Scientist on “Beyond Materialism” Meeting
A senior European scientist who was on hand for the “Beyond Materialism” conference sponsored by Discovery Institute and the Centre for Intelligent Design (UK) at Cambridge University’s Hughes Hall says this:
I will concentrate on the truly stunning and encouraging spirit of this event. The audience was extremely interested in the talks, asked very thoughtful questions, and was overwhelmingly sympathetic and supportive of ID.
There were not only people from Great Britain, but also from other European countries (e.g., several people from the Netherlands). It was also not a purely Christian event, as there were at least three young Muslims, who were very friendly and grateful for the presentations, and also other non-Christian ID supporters.
There was a single Theistic Evolutionist, who tried to convert one of our group to TE. After the final panel Q&A the speakers received standing ovations, had to pose for photos, and were surrounded by people who either had further questions or expressed their support and gratitude.
We all were amazed by the organisation of this event and can only say kudos to Peter Loose of the Centre for Intelligent Design UK and all others who made this possible. Discovery Institute’s Janine Solfelt did a terrific job as well.
Look here for a full program of the event, which indeed sounds like a splendid success.
